A hose reel is a cylindrical spindle made with metal, fiberglass and plastics to store hose. Hose is used to supply air and water such as the air compressor and the firefighter truck. It is a common issue to have the leakage problem with the hose. Two types of leaks usually we have while using the hose to supply water or air. Leaks from the spool connection to the base or leaks from the hose fitting. It is an easy job to fix the leaks if you know the exact guideline.
How do I stop my hose reel from leaking

Locate the leaking
To fix the leakage we should find the place where it is actually leaking from. Easily we can find the leakage and it depends on the location, how severe the problem is and how much effort it needs to fix it.
If the hose is leak from the connection where the tap is, it may the spigot or the hose fitting. If it is sweating around the handle the washer may be worn out or the packing nut is loose. This is not a hose issue but check these settings before check in the hose.
Leaking from the fittings
If the hose is leaking from the fitting ends it may be the rubber washer. Sometimes there is no washer used to cause leaks. Or they can fall out without noticing after a long time.
Check the gasket, remove the attached one and place a new one. Use the flat head screwdriver to pop it and check the size to buy the same sized gasket.
Leaking from the hose end
The hose ends can be broken by the temperature fluctuation, water freezing inside the hose, simultaneous flexing around the connections.
If the hose end is damaged and leaks don;’t worry it is simple to fix. Just cut off the end of the hose and take a hose repairing kit to replace it.
Leaking from the hose
If the hose is leaking by a pin or crack from several places we can get a set of menders to fix them. Select the correct mender's size and cut the hose where it is leaking from. Use the menders and join the two pieces of the hoses. Tight the nut enough and we will have a nice house.
